Harvest Thanksgiving Service Monday 2 October 2023
Our Monday evening harvest looks at the parable of the rich fool, teaching us the perils of greed and the pursuit of material possessions. The man in the parable, driven by greed, wanted more wealth than he already had, disregarding God’s laws regarding inheritance. The passage is one of warning against the prevailing notion that accumulating more worldly possessions is the path to true life. True life is found in knowing God and experiencing His salvation through Jesus. Greed is a sign of not knowing God, as those who do not know Him may believe that this world is all they have. We are to prioritise eternal life through a relationship with God, recognising that worldly riches ultimately hold no value in the face of mortality.
