Peter has spent a number of days with Cornelius following his coming to faith in Jesus Christ and it is now time to return to Jerusalem and report about the work of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles and believers there. Although initially the Jewish believers in Jerusalem question the faith of Cornelius the Gentile, they come to the conclusion (as Peter did) that they cannot stop the work of God. In Christ there is no basis for discrimination of any kind. We need to regularly consider Peter’s vision and I’d mean and implications for us today, so that we won’t call any person impure or unclean for the sake of the gospel. Acts 1 v 1-18 continues the great movement of the gospel into all the world.
