Morning Worship – Sunday 16th April 2023
The story shifts once again, this time back to Jerusalem and Peter. Peter takes on a ministry of visiting believers in towns and villages beyond Jerusalem. When he comes to Lydda he heals a man paralysed for eight year in the name of Jesus Christ. Believers then come up from Joppa to inform Peter that one of the beloved believers there, Tabitha, has died. They believe Peter can raise her from the dead and, arriving in Joppa, he does! Both these miracles attack local attention and leads to many coming to faith in Jesus Christ.
But there is more to this story than just the miracles. Peter is being prepared for greater ministry. This first part of his training prepares him by personal experience of God at work. Peter was a faithful Jew, who met Christ and professed him as Lord. Now he must be made ready to go into all the world, including the gentile world, to proclaim the good news of the gospel.
Acts 9 v 32-43 continues the great movement of the gospel into all the world.
